A job page
Click any job on the dashboard to open its page. Everything BidTroller knows about the job, and everything your team has done with it, is here.
The details
- Fence fit
- Likely, Possible or Unlikely, with a percentage. The short quote under it is the part of the listing that shows the fence work. Fence types found, like chain link or ornamental, are listed below.
- Location
- City or county and state. A note tells you when the source listed only the state, or when the place came from the facility the listing names.
- Distance
- Straight-line miles to each of your offices, nearest first. When only the county is known, it is measured from the county center.
- Bids due
- The bid deadline in Central time.
- Pre-bid meeting
- The date, and whether it is mandatory. A missed mandatory meeting shows in red.
- Questions due
- The last day to send questions, when the listing gives one.
- Value
- The estimated value or range, when stated.
- First found
- The day BidTroller first saw the job.
Below the details you’ll find the full Description from the listing, and Found on, with a link to every place the job was seen and when.
Flags
Flags are quick signals to help you decide if a job is worth a look. Green flags are good signs. Red flags are reasons to be careful.
Green flags
- Within your normal service area
- Enough time to prepare the bid
- Negotiated project or invited bid
- GC bidders list available
- Fence-only project, or fence is a big part of it
- Fence types you want, like commercial or industrial, perimeter security, chain-link or ornamental, high security, anti-climb, crash rated, netting, airport, data center or prison fencing
Red flags
- Outside your normal service area
- Very short bidding window
- Mandatory site visit or pre-bid meeting
On the dashboard, up to three flags show under Fence fit, red first. Mandatory pre-bid has its own column there instead.
Files
- Click Download next to a file to save it.
- For PDFs, click View here to read it right on the page. It also shows the page count, and searchable once BidTroller has read the text. Searchable files are covered by the dashboard search.
- Click Download everything (.zip) to get every file for the job in one download.
- A file marked Blocked for safety and not stored looked unsafe, so BidTroller did not keep it. Get it from the original listing if you need it.
No files? Jobs from public bid sites often link to the documents on the agency’s own site. Use the link under Found on. SAM.gov documents are not pulled in yet, so use the Attachments/Links section on the SAM.gov page. BidNet shows documents only to registered suppliers.
Status
The status tells your team where a job stands: New, Reviewing, Pursuing, Bidding, Submitted or No bid.
- Pick a status in the box on the right, add a reason if you like, and click Save status.
- The change and the reason show in Activity with your name and the time.
- Submitted and No bid jobs leave the default dashboard view. Tick All under Status to see them again.
- With a viewer login you can see the status, but you can’t change it, add notes or record a bid result. See Roles and permissions.
Worth our time?
Click 👍 Yes or 👎 No, with a reason if you like. Your votes teach BidTroller what your company bids on. You can change your vote at any time. The box shows the team’s total so far.
Bid result
Once a job is set to Submitted, a Bid result box appears. Record Won, Lost, No award or Not known yet, your bid, the winning bid and any notes, then click Save result.
Notes and activity
- Type in Add a note and click Add note. Good notes say who you called, what the GC said, or why you passed.
- Notes can’t be edited or deleted once saved, so the record stays complete.
- Activity lists everything that happened to the job, newest first: when it was found, seen on another site, status changes, notes and bid results, each with who and when.
- Opened by shows who opened the job, how many times, and when last. Owners and admins see everyone. Everyone else sees only their own visits.
