Send your bid emails to BidTroller
BidTroller reads the bid emails you already get (ConstructConnect, Dodge, BuildingConnected, PlanHub, SmartBid digests, and invitations from general contractors) and puts every project in one place. You set up one automatic rule, once. Nobody has to forward anything by hand after that.
Your forwarding address
It looks like this, with your company name in place of yourcompany. Signed-in users see their exact address on the Setup page.
feed+yourcompany@in.bidtroller.com
- We never ask for your ConstructConnect, Dodge, BuildingConnected, PlanHub or SmartBid passwords. Forwarded email is the only way we see that content.
- Only send bid-related email. Everything sent to this address is processed as a possible bid.
Outlook / Microsoft 365
Do this once in each mailbox that receives bid emails (for example, each estimator who gets GC invitations). Takes about 5 minutes.
- 1Open Outlook on the web (outlook.office.com) and sign in to the mailbox.
- 2Click the gear icon (Settings) at the top right, then Mail → Rules, then + Add new rule.
- 3Name it BidTroller.
- 4Under Add a condition, choose From and add the senders you get bids from:constructconnect.com · construction.com (Dodge) · buildingconnected.com · planhub.com · smartbidnet.com · bidnetdirect.com · demandstar.comFor GC invitations, add a second rule: condition Subject includes “Invitation to Bid”, “ITB”, “Bid Invite”, “RFP”, “RFQ”.
- 5Under Add an action, choose Redirect to and enter feed+yourcompany@in.bidtroller.com.Redirect keeps the original sender, which helps BidTroller recognize each service. “Forward to” also works.
- 6Leave Stop processing more rules unchecked so your other rules keep working. Click Save.
For your IT administrator (Microsoft 365)
Microsoft 365 blocks automatic forwarding to outside addresses by default. If forwarded emails never arrive, an administrator needs to allow it for the mailboxes above: Microsoft Defender portal → Email & collaboration → Policies & rules → Threat policies → Anti-spam → Anti-spam outbound policy, and set Automatic forwarding rules to On for those users (a custom policy scoped to them is best). While there, add bidtroller.com to the allowed senders so sign-in codes and the morning digest aren't quarantined. No app install or account access is needed.
Gmail / Google Workspace
- 1In Gmail, open Settings (gear) → See all settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP → Add a forwarding address, and enter feed+yourcompany@in.bidtroller.com.
- 2Gmail sends a confirmation code to that address, and BidTroller receives it. Sign in to BidTroller and open Setup: the code shows there within a few minutes. Enter the code in Gmail and click Verify.
- 3Create a filter: search box → Show search options → put the bid senders in From (as listed in the Outlook steps) → Create filter → tick Forward it to your BidTroller address → Create filter.
Check that it works
Forward one recent bid email manually to your BidTroller address. It should show up in BidTroller within a few minutes. If it doesn’t, check the Microsoft 365 note above, then contact us.
